"Golf may not be an easy game to learn to play well, but it should be made simple to learn. That is what this book achieves. It is sensible, easy to understand and very "user friendly". Golfers of all skills levels who read 1-2-3-4 Golf will play better golf if they apply the lessons learned in this book."

(From The Foreword, written by Ian Woosnam)
THE FOUR PILLARS OF GOLF
Every golfer's swing has a unique shape. So what is it that all good swings have in common?
BALANCE.
An efficient and effective golf swing will not be repeatable unless you learn to swing in balance. Without good balance you will not have any fun playing golf at all.
STABILITY.
Stability is the single most critical factor in being able to hit the sweet spot of the club face consistently.
TEMPO.
Tempo is the length of time it takes to move the club head away from the ball to the top of the backswing and then back to impact. Tempo is also the time-ratio between backswing and downswing to impact.
THE PROCESS.
The Process is to playing the game what balance, stability and tempo are to the swing. Without it, you could as well go and walk the dog in the park. There are three steps that you should go through before attempting to play a shot. If you do not complete these steps you will play Dusty Springfield golf - "Just wishin and hopin and hopin and wishin"!
